A little about us…First Responders Animal ResQ was created due to a considerable need to help local dogs in our area. We are located in the East Bay in Northern California. Our mission is to make a difference for dogs in our community.
First Responders receives daily contact or requests regarding a dog(s) in need! Sometimes it can be challenging because we simply can’t save every dog.
We are a 501(c)(3), which means we are a non-profit organization. All of our time is volunteer based. In other words, we could not do what we do without your support. We appreciate all donations, either financial, pet supplies, or dog food.
Many of our dogs may come into our rescue in need of some kind of medical care. We spay/neuter all our dogs, vaccinate, chip, provide additional medical care when needed. Most of all, we love each and every one of the dogs that we come in contact with. We are a small entity, but we have a lot of heart. We nurture our dogs as well as create a strong sense of community with our adopters, potential adopters and their families. Our philosophy is to provide all of our families and dogs with an environment conducive with as easy of a transition as possible.
We offer resources, solutions, as well as support. We facilitate a successful adoption for both the adopter and our wonderful dogs.
Our belief is that every dog has a special person and every person, has that special dog. Our goal is to help with that love connection! We are a professional match makers!
We would not be able to do a fraction of what we do with out our fosters! We are always looking for fun, confident, social people who love dogs. We provide all of our fosters with supplies, resources and support in order for them to focus on loving our rescues!
If you are interested in becoming part of our rescue, we love and welcome you! Most of what we do is word of mouth!
We post our dogs through social media mostly. If we have an individual(s) interested in one or several of our dogs, we ask that you fill out an application.
The application process allows you to tells us a little about you which allows us to identify what type of dog might be suitable for your lifestyle. Finding the right dog is important. After the application process is completed, we will call you and discuss any questions, needs or restrictions you have.
We do not require our potential adopters to own their home, but we do ask for a signed document from the landlord, approving any pets. This is to ensure a dog is not returned unnecessarily to the rescue due to a housing issue.
Lastly, we require a home visit. This is to make sure fences and any other potential hazards are identified and resolved prior to adoption. This ensures the safety of our rescues.
